Young takes medalist honors with solid 74 at Trailblazer Invitational

North Adams, MA-  MCLA's Nick Young shot a solid two over par 74 to take home medalist honors, while Rhode Island College won the team title via tiebreaker over Cobleskill "A" this afternoon at picturesque Berkshire Hills Country Club in the Trailblazer Invitational.  The Anchormen won the team competition due to Tim Welles' 85 besting Cobleskill's Dylan Mulvihill by a single stroke.  Both teams finished with a total of 321.

Young was magnificent for MCLA and had to wait around for over two hours to be crowned medalist.  He opened the front nine with a three over par 38, however he closed strong with a one under par 36 over the final nine holes.  His lone birdie of the day came on the par 5 15^th hole.  He finished with three consecutive pars to close out the 74.

RIC and Cobleskill were both among the second wave of golfers and each score that came in was very tight.  RIC was paced by Jonathan Cooper's five over par 77 and he was matched by Cobleskill's Ian Wilson.  Both players finished T-2 in the individual race.  RIC's Austin Cilley was next best at 78 for the Anchormen, and he was followed by Steve Letterle and Peter Camerlengo with 82 and 84 respectively.

Following Wilson's strong performance for the Tigers was Wyatt Gorman's 80.  Both Connor McCarthy and Ryan Whitaker came in with 82's which tied RIC with matching scores of 321. 

The tiebreaker then goes to the fifth man scoring.  RIC's Welles totaled an 85 and secured the win via a par on the par 5 finishing hole. 

Westfield State's Mike Sarkis shot a 78 to finish T-4 while Cobleskill "B" Kenny Benedetto and Worcester State's Patrick Sharron each shot 79 to finish in sixth.

For the Trailblazers, Cooper Gavin ended with a 91 and Sam Slocombe had a 94.
