MCLA individuals compete at MASCAC Golf Championships

For the second straight year, Salem State has claimed the MASCAC Men's Golf Championship which was played at Blackstone National Golf Course along with the Rich Korzec Invitational.

Salem State finished with a team total of 322 with Worcester State next at 327 and Westfield State not far behind with 332. 

The Vikings were led by Chad Alibozek who finished five over par with 77. Not far behind on the team were Nick Stone (80) and Ryan Swart (81). Since the MASCAC Golf Tournament started again in 2010, Salem State has won six of the eight team championships.

Mike Sarkis from Westfield State was the overall MASCAC Individual Champion with a top score of 75, three over par. Sarkis is the first medalist for the Owls since the conference first offered men's golf in 1971. 

Mike Jezierski was the top finisher for Worcester State at 78, six over while Nick Bator had the best finish for MCLA with 92 (+20) for the Trailblazers.  Josh Fortier and Reese Dwyer also competed for the Trailblazers.

Running along side the MASCAC Championship was the fifth annual Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational Golf Tournament, a one-day event named for the late Worcester State men's head golf coach. Western New England were the tournament winners with a team score of 307 while Salem State finished second.
