Gover Tops Trailblazers as Golf Team Finishes Ninth at Farmingdale State Spring Invitational

FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—Freshman golfer Mat Gover was the top Trailblazers' golfer as the team returned to action at the challenging and historic Bethpage Red golf course, taking part in MCLA's first spring golf event since 2017.

EVENT RESULTS:

  • Winning Team: NYU (Day 1: 285, Day 2: 290, Total: +15) Team Results
  • Winning Individuals: Drew Clark, NYU (Day 1: 69 (-1), day 2: 70 (E), Total -1) Individual Results

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Gover shot MCLA's lowest rounds on both Saturday and Sunday, carding a four-over-par 74 on day one and a two-over-par 72 on day two.
  • Alex Ferris and Cody White were the only other Trailblazers to shoot below-par numbers on any holes on day one of the tournament. White shot birdies on holes five and nine, while Ferris birdied hole 16.
  • Gover notched birdies on holes 16 and 18 on day one and on holes five, 16, and 17 on day two.
  • White was the second-highest finisher among the MCLA golfers, finishing tied for 43rd with a +19.
