#6 Plymouth State Overwhelm Men’s Hockey 5-2

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to the sixth-ranked Plymouth State Panthers last evening at the Williams College Lansing Chapman Rink. MCLA got goals from Cade Herrera and Gavin Glaubitz and 37 saves from Mathew Gover in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Plymouth State was the first one on the board, getting there twice in the opening 70 seconds. Payton Schaly (assisted by Will Redick and Connor Tait) scored the first and Tait (Rider McCallum and Severi Sulonen) scored the second with a man advantage. Almost exactly four minutes later Donte Diponio extended the lead to 3-0.
  • MCLA got back into the game with about 12 and a half minutes off the clock in the first period when Cade Herrera scored a power-play goal with helpers from Sean Schifferl and Shane Green.
  • Gavin Glavitz then got the Trailblazers to within a single score when he scored at 16:24, assists were credited to Addam Brunner and Easton Moore to cap what would be an exciting first period.
  • The Panther's Schaly (Sulonen and Jeromey Rancourt) scored the lone goal of the game's second period to give the Panthers a 4-2 advantage after two.
  • Plymouth State found their way to one final goal when Anton Jellvik (McCallum and Redick) scored the Panthers' second power-play goal to account for the 5-2 final.
  • For MCLA, Gover recorded 37 stops in the defeat, while Kalle Andersson saved 21 of his 19 opportunities to record the victory.
