FRAMINGHAM, Mass.— The MCLA Men's Ice Hockey team allowed three goals in the final 10 minutes of their game with Framingham State to remain winless in MASCAC play. Sean Schifferl scored a pair of goals for the Trailblazers in the loss.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Thursday, November 30, 2023
  • Score: MCLA X, Framingham State X
  • Records: MCLA Trailblazers 2-7-1 (MASCAC 0-5-1) | Framingham State Rams 2-6-0 (MASCAC 2-4-0)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Framingham State posted the game's first goal just under eight minutes into the game when Matthew Nuzzolilo found the back of the net, with assists being credited to Samuel Larkin and Jake Barcelou.
  • MCLA got back to even with the hosts so quickly that fans who were late returning from the intermission probably missed the goal when Sean Schifferl skated in from the left corner and scored his third goal of the season with an assist from Easton Moore.
  • Schifferl doubled his game goal total about 11 minutes later, giving the Trailblazers their first lead of the game with a goal as the clock ran to under nine minutes in the period. With both teams having players in the penalty box due to a coincidental penalty, MCLA won a battle in the corner of their own defensive end and sent the puck around behind their own net, as an MCLA player pushed the puck through the neutral zone ahead to Schifferl who skated in from the left and crossed in front of the Rams goalie who attempted to knock the puck off of his stick. Schifferl maintained control and scored with a shot to the goalie's stick side. Luke Rhoss and Quinn Murphy were credited with the assists.
  • The lead would be short-lived, however, because the Rams leveled the score only 30 seconds later, on a goal from Patrick Colgan, with assists by Ashton Collazo and Andrew Miller.
  • The teams would go into the third period with the score tied at two until Addam Brunner scored from inside the left face-off circle as the clock clicked under 12 minutes remaining; the assists for this goal matched MCLA's previous and were credited to Rhoss and Murphy.
  • Framingham then scored three unanswered goals to set the final score. The goals were scored by Kaleb Kinskey (at 11:42, assist by Caleb Dusek and Brent Scott), Larkin (13:28, Nuzzolilo and Colgan), and an empty netter by Brady Rossbach (19:39, Cameron Lindsay and Collazo).
