Men’s Lacrosse earns 9-4 road victory at Salem State

Salem, MA—After falling behind 3-0 the MCLA Men's Lacrosse team scored nine straight times to defeat Salem State this afternoon on their way to a 9-4 nonconference win against the Vikings. With the win the Trailblazers improve to 3-2 while Salem State falls to 1-3.

Down 3-0, MCLA's Boden Dock scored his first of four goals on the day with 8:18 left in the first quarter to cut the Viking lead to 3-1. Nearly five minutes later Nathan Haley (3 goals) would find the back of the net to make it 3-2 at the first intermission.

Dock would score his second just 41 seconds into the 2nd quarter to tie things up and Johnny Hebert (2 goals, four assists) would give MCLA the lead for good nearly three and a half minutes later.

The Trailblazers would score five straight goals from that point including two more from both Dock and Haley and another by Hebert. Salem State would score a late goal to make the final 9-4.

Salem State goalie Trevor Gilligan (L, 1-3) made 22 saves in the losing effort. MCLA goaltender and reigning North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Defensive Player of the Week John Hankel would make 16 saves on his way to improving to 3-2 on the season.

MCLA's Matt Ortiz dominated in the face of circle winning 12 of 14 draws along with collecting nine ground balls.

The Trailblazers out shot the Vikings 43-34 and won the ground ball battle as well, 39-31.

Salem State will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Thomas. MCLA is of until Saturday when they travel to Cazenovia for a 2pm face-off.
