Men’s Lacrosse can’t overcome early deficit, fall to Maine Maritime, 21-9

North Adams, MA— Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) led 6-1 after the 1st quarter and 13-2 at the half on their way to a 21-9 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) decision this afternoon over MCLA. With the win MMA improves to 3-2 (1-0 NAC) while MCLA falls to 4-3 (1-1 NAC).

The defending league champs jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Trailblazers got on the board with a Nate Allen (2 goals) goal with 4:07 left in the opening quarter.  The Mariners would score six more before Boden Dock (4 goals) found the back of the net with 5:24 left in the half to make it 9-2.

MMA would close the half on a four-goal run to take a 13-2 lead into the break.

Although they were outscored 8-7 the rest of the way, the Trailblazers played the Mariners tough in the second half with Dock scoring three times, Nathan Haley twice and Allen and Matt Wallace once each.

Jacob Hintermaier with 5 goals, Alex Stevens with 4 goals and Jayden Wilson with a hat-trick led the MMA offensive attack.

Mariner goalie Garrett Ruszkowski made 4 saves and improves to 2-1 on the season. John Hankel made 21 saves but falls to 4-3.

Maine Maritime travels to Bates on Tuesday for a nonconference matchup while MCLA returns to league play on Wednesday traveling to SUNY Poly for a 6pm face-off.
