Men’s Lacrosse taken down by SUNY Canton in NAC action

CANTON, New York— SUNY Canton took it to the MCLA Men's Lacrosse team early scoring nine first quarter goals on their way to a comfortable 21-6 win over the Trailblazers this afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. With the win the SUNY Canton improves to 3-7 (2-2 NAC) while MCLA falls to 5-6 (1-4 NAC).

The Roos would score the first six goals of the game including a pair each by Alex Jacobs and Austin Mesler before MCLA's Johnny Hebert's 10th goal of the season would make it 6-1 with 4:43 left in the first quarter.

SUNY Canton would wrap a 7-goal run around the first intermission to make it 13-1 halfway through the second quarter but the Trailblazers closed the half with Nathan Haley and Boden Dock both finding the back of the net to make it 13-3 heading into halftime.

Haley would score twice in the second half and Matthew Wallace once, but the Trailblazers were outpaced by the Roos who went on to win 21-6.

Ten different players would score in the win for SUNY Canton including Mesler (4 goals, 6 assists), Jacobs (4 goals, assist) and Tanner Amell (3 goals, 2 assists).

SUNY Canton goalkeeper Hayden Todd (W, 2-3) made 5 saves in the win for the Roos. MCLA goalie John Hankel (L, 5-6) stopped 21 shots but took the loss in net for the Trailblazers.

Both teams will hit the road to continue league play on Wednesday afternoon as SUNY Canton visits SUNY Poly and MCLA travels to SUNY Cobleskill for a 3pm face-off.
