Dock’s seven goals lead Men’s Lacrosse to dominating senior day win over NVU-Lyndon

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— MCLA's Boden Dock matched his career-high of seven goals leading the Trailblazers to a decisive 23-4 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win over Northern Vermont-Lyndon tonight at Shewcraft Field. With the win MCLA improves to 6-8 (1-6 NAC) while the Hornets drop to 1-6 (0-6 NAC).

Lyndon's Bodhi English opened the scoring nearly three and a half minutes in and would put the Hornets up again, 2-1 at the 6:51 mark after MCLA's Johnny Hebert had evened the match. However, from there it was all Trailblazers as the home team finished the quarter on a 5-0 run and would eventually score fifteen straight goals to make it 16-2 with six minutes left in the third. MCLA would outscore Lyndon 7-2 down the stretch cruising to a 23-4 NAC victory.

Dock's game-high seven goals set the pace along with Jaquan Chinnis, who set career-highs for goals and points in a game (4 goals, 4 assists) and Johnny Hebert (4 goals, assist). Matthew Wallace and DeClan McEachen also chipped in hattricks for the Trailblazers. English and Alex Reed each scored twice for Lyndon.

Matt Ortiz was nearly perfect in the face-off circle setting a program and career best by winning 25 of 27 draws. Ortiz also collected a career-high 15 ground balls in the win.

Lyndon goalie Matt McGeeghan (L, 1-6) made 18 saves but took the loss for the Hornets. John Hankel (W, 6-8) stopped 4 shots in the win for the Trailblazers.

Playing in their final home contest, MCLA seniors Dan Colquit-Smith, Matthew Wallace, Nate Allen, Matt Ortiz and Johnny Hebert were honored before the game.

Both teams will travel to Maine on Saturday to conclude their regular seasons as Lyndon will take on Husson University at 1pm and MCLA battles Thomas College at noon.
