NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—The MCLA Men's Lacrosse team dropped their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) season opener to the visiting SUNY Poly Wildcats 21-4 this afternoon at Farley-Lamb Field on the campus of Williams College. With the win SUNY Poly improves to 3-2 (1-0 NAC) while MCLA falls to 0-6 (0-1 NAC).

SUNY Poly's Ryan Carroll registered a first quarter hat trick as the Wildcats took control of this one early leading 5-0 after one. The visitors added seven more to begin the second before MCLA's Luke Rhoss scored his 8th goal of the season to make it 12-1 late in the half. SUNY Poly's Andrew Maycock added one more to make it 13-1 at the intermission.

It was more of the same in the second half with the Wildcats stifling defense keeping the Trailblazers at bay. MCLA's Nathan Haley did break through in the fourth quarter to score his 17th and 18th goals of the season and Boden Dock added one late. However, it would be SUNY Poly cruising to the 21-4 conference victory.

Carroll led all players with 4 goals, and four other Wildcats (Maycock, Payton Thomas, Kai Hew and Ian Short) finished with hat tricks. In total, nine players scored for Poly.

Owen Infantino (W, 3-0), Joseph VanZandt and Trent Stone shared goaltending duties for the Wildcats making nine total saves on the day. MCLA's Neal Brierley (L, 0-1) making his debut in net for the Trailblazers stopped 14 Wildcat shots in the loss.

Both teams return to league play on Saturday as SUNY Poly hosts SUNY Delhi at 3:30pm and MCLA travels to Maine Maritime for a noon face-off.
