WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – MCLA's Anthony Andolina and Boden Dock each scored three times, but SUNY Canton led wire-to-wire this afternoon earning a 15-8 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road victory over the Trailblazers at Farley-Lamb Field on the campus of Williams College.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Sunday, April 7, 2024
  • Score: SUNY Canton 15, MCLA 8
  • Records: SUNY Canton Kangaroos 4-4 (3-0 NAC) | MCLA Trailblazers 0-8 (0-3 NAC)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • SUNY Canton dominated possession early and found themselves up 4-0 following Alex Jacobs' second goal of the game with just over five minutes to play in the first quarter.
  • A great individual effort by Andolina put the Trailblazers of the board nearly five minutes later, but the Roos scored twice more to end the first, up 6-1.
  • Luke Rhoss and Andolina scored early in the second, but SUNY Canton answered each tally with two and three goals, respectively to make it 11-3 with 6:10 remaining in the half.
  • Just thirteen seconds later, Boden Dock collected a groundball and sent a severe-angled shot into the vacant Canton net for his first goal of the day. In the final minute of the half after being stymied at pointblank range by Roos goalie Hayden Todd (W, 4-4), the nimble-footed junior snagged his own rebound, wielded around the cage, and fired an over the shoulder laser into the far top corner of the net to make it 11-5 and give the hosts some momentum going into the break.
  • Both teams tightened up on the defensive end in the second half, but the Roos were able to stretch their lead to 13-5 following Austin Messler's game-high fourth goal.
  • Dock and Sean Neu trimmed the deficit to 13-7 with 6:18 left, but that was as close as MCLA would get. Canton's Sean Goodnough scored twice more, and Andolina put one home late as the Roos held on for the 15-8 NAC road victory.
  • MCLA goaltender Neal Brierley (L, 0-3), who made some incredible stops in the second half and played his best game of season, made 11 saves.
