Lacrosse Goes Cold in Loss to Thomas College

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Lacrosse team played their final home game of the 2024 season this afternoon, welcoming Thomas College to Shewcraft Field. Nathan Haley scored his fifth hat-trick of the season, but the Terriers outshot the Trailblazers 72-37 and had four players score at least three goals.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • MCLA was the first one on the scoreboard when Nathan Haley (12:13, assisted by Luke Rhoss) found the back of the cage less than three minutes into the game.
  • A bit less than two minutes later, the Terriers evened the score before the teams settled into a back-and-forth struggle that kept both teams scoreless until the Trailblazers' Luke Rhoss scored his 14th goal of the season with around four and a half minutes left in the first quarter.
  • Following the Rhoss goal, MCLA's offense went silent while Thomas added on two more goals in the first period and one in the second to take a 4-2 advantage into halftime.
  • The Trailblazers' sticks stayed cool in the third period while the Terriers found their scoring touch. They scored eight goals in the third period and two more in the fourth. Thomas went on a 13-0 run over a roughly 38-minute stretch.
  • MCLA got back in the scorer's column with Haley (man down, 9:39, assisted by Rhoss, and 8:02, unassisted) scoring two goals in about 97 seconds to record his fifth hat trick of the season. Rhoss's assist on Haley's second goal gave him his fourth three-plus-point game of the season and his fifth multi-point showing.
  • Thomas Colllege's Daniel Guarino stopped eight shots to pick up his first win of the season, moving his record to 1-5. The Trailblazers' Neal Brierly recorded 22 saves but fell to 1-3 on the year.
