NEW LONDON, Conn. – The MCLA Lacrosse team wrapped up their season this afternoon with a non-conference road game at Mitchell College. Boden Dock and Luke Rhoss each finished with their second hat tricks of the season, and Neal Brierley made 16 saves to lead the Trailblazers to a 9-6 win.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Monday, April 29, 2024
  • Score: MCLA 9, Mitchell 6
  • Records: MCLA Trailblazers 2-12 (NAC 1-7) | Mitchell College Mariners 0-12 (GNAC 0-10)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Mitchell was the first one on the scoreboard with just under four and a half minutes expired when Jon Parra-Tobey (10:31, unassisted) found the back of the cage.
  • Less than three minutes later, MCLA's Boden Dock (7:32, assisted Luke Rhoss and 7:19, Walter Brown) evened the score before putting the Trailblazers ahead 13 seconds later.
  • The Mariners' Xavier Haney (6:27, unassisted) leveled the score at two to cap a small flurry of scoring in the first nine minutes of play.
  • Before the first period ended, however, Josh Hemstock (1:50, Rhoss) put MCLA in front again for good with his third goal of the season.
  • MCLA added two more goals in the second period to go into the locker room with a 5-2 advantage. The goals were scored by Ty Roadcap (12:00, Rhoss) and Anthony Andolina. The goals were Roadcap's second and Andolina's 16th of the season. The assist by Rhoss on the Roadcap goal was his team-leading 13th of the season.
  • The teams traded shots to open the second half, but neither team broke through until Rhoss (5:25, Andolina) scored for the Trailblazers as the clock approached five minutes remaining in the quarter. The goal pushed the MCLA edge to 6-2, their largest lead of the season.
  • Two minutes later the Mariners responded with a pair of goals less than a minute apart. The first was scored by Weston Schumacher (3:24, unassisted), and the second was Parra-Tobey's (man-up, 2:48, Keeano Gonzalez) second of the game.
