MCLA handles Green Mountain 3-0
The MCLA Men's Soccer team defeated Green Mountain College this afternoon 3-0. With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 4-2-1. MCLA snapped a three match winless streak with the win.
Sophomore forward Casey Baker (Pittsfield, MA) tallied a pair of goals for the Trailblazers. Fellow Sophomore Tom Duplisea (Saugus, MA) also tallied his first of the year to round out the scoring. Evan Coe (Hopewell Jct, NY) earned the victory in net for MCLA, combining with Sean Teahen (Belchertown, MA) and Adam Tarsa (Adams, MA) on the shutout.
Baker converted a penalty kick just seven minutes into the game giving MCLA a 1-0 advantage. The Trailblazers would carry that lead into halftime. He would notch his second of the day in the 53rd minute. Duplisea then took a feed from freshman Jordan Hoofnagle (Peabody, MA) finding the back of the net in the 66th minute.
For the day, the Trailblazers outshot Green Mountain 23-3, while holding a commanding lead in corners 13-1. MCLA moves on to a key MASCAC game this weekend when they host Salem State Saturday at 1pm.
