Sullivan's goal lifts MCLA past Cobleskill 1-0

North Adams, MA- MCLA sophomore George Sullivan's second half tally was the only marker in a 1-0 non conference victory for the Trailblazers over SUNY-Cobleskill.  With the win, MCLA improves to 2-0 on the season, while Cobleskill falls to 1-2.

Sullivan's goal came in 70th minute of play after MCLA cranked up the offensive pressure in the second half.  Luke Davis slipped a pass behind the Tiger defense leaving Sullivan one on one with Cobleskill keeper Mack Curran.  Sullivan beat Curran to the lower right corner giving MCLA a lead they would not relinquish.

MCLA had multiple chances in the second half to put the game away as a couple of Trailblazer headers were just off the mark. Cobleskill had a chance late as Souleymane Kone's header was collected by MCLA keeper Adam Tarsa, securing the 1-0 advantage.

The first half saw both teams play physical as the half ended scoreless.  MCLA's Jake McCall had a great chance to break the ice, but his header caught the crossbar.

The Trailblazers held a decisive shot advantage for the game as they outshot the Tigers 25-8.  They also held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.  Both teams combined for 28 fouls.

Tarsa earned the Trailblazers second consecutive shutout to begin the season as he collected three saves.  Curran stopped eleven shots for Cobleskill.

MCLA is back in action this weekend in the CIAO Classic as they will play Union (NY) on Saturday at noon and SUNY-Potsdam on Sunday at Noon.
