Trailblazers fall in OT to Plattsburgh 2-1

Plattsburgh, NY- MCLA's Robert Dalby tallied the tying goal with just 24 seconds remaining in regulation, however host Plattsburgh State would deliver the game winner in the 98th minute in the first overtime pushing the host Cardinals past MCLA 2-1 in the Classic final.  The Trailblazers are now 1-1 heading into next week's CIAO Classic.

MCLA's Dillon Wager and Jake McCall were named to the All tournament team for their efforts over the weekend.

The match was a defensive battle all evening, however the hosts did hold a 19-6 shot advantage.  After a physical and scoreless first half saw a pair of yellow cards on each side, Plattsburgh finally pushed one past MCLA keeper Dillon Wager in the 76th minute when Tom Greene put home a rebound off a Pat Shaughnessy shot.  It looked like the Cardinals would earn the shutout until Dalby's heroics in the final minute.

MCLA had a few opportunities before Dalby but couldn't connect.  Finally, Dalby fired a shot from deep inside the box to beat Cardinal goalie Andy Heighingon to knot the score, sending it into extra time.

Plattsburgh converted the game winner when Steve Zacharczyk hammered home a shot from ten yards out giving the hosts the Classic title.

Wager would finish the game with 8 saves.

MCLA will now play host to the CIAO Classic next weekend which will feature Husson, Medgar Evers, and Union (NY)
