MCLA tops Cobleskill 3-1, improves to 3-2 heading into MASCAC play

Cobleskill, NY- The MCLA Trailblazers used a pair of Joseph Mecca goals en route to a 3-1 win over Cobleskill on Tuesday afternoon.  With the win, MCLA improves to 3-2 heading into MASCAC play this weekend.  Cobleskill drops to 1-4 with the loss.

Mecca beat Cobleskill keeper Brian Faulkner on a one on one to the weakside giving the Trailblazers a quick 1-0 edge in the 18th minute.  MCLA would carry that advantage into halftime.

Mecca was quick to strike as he tallied just 43 seconds into the second half, heading home a Scott Winslow cross in the box.  Just a minute and a half later, Brian Theriault connected pushing the lead to 3-0.  Jake McCall assisted on Theriault's goal.

Cobleskill would respond with their lone marker in the 53rd minute, however MCLA keeper Dillon Wager and the Trailblazer defense would not allow the Tigers to threaten.

Cobleskill actually outshot MCLA 14-12.  Wager only made one save in the game while his counterpart Faulkner collected seven saves.

MCLA will open MASCAC play on Saturday when the host Worcester State at 1pm at Shewcraft field.
