McCall leads MCLA to season opening win in Cadet Classic

Norwich, VT- MCLA senior captain Jake McCall collected a pair of second half goals to lead the Trailblazers past Newbury in the opening round of the Norwich Cadet Classic.  The match was the season opener for both clubs.

Newbury opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Shaundize Moosaviza tallied an unassisted goal to give the Hawks an early advantage.  MCLA would counter though as senior Joseph Mecca took a Tyler Russell ball and pushed it past Newbury goalie Tanachot Sae So to knot things up.  The game would remain tied into halftime.

McCall would give the Trailblazers the lead in the 59th minute.  Patrick Endy was credited with the assist.  Less than two minutes later, McCall would tally again.  This time he used a Luke Fisher feed to essentially put the game out of reach.

Dillon Wager earned the win in net for MCLA stopping four shots on the afternoon.  MCLA outshot Newbury 15-10 while holding a 3-0 edge in corners.

The Trailblazers will play Green Mountain College tomorrow in the finale of the Cadet Classic.
