MCLA falls on the road to the Vikings

Salem, MA- On Saturday afternoon the Trailblazers (2-3, 0-1) dropped their first conference game to the Vikings of Salem State University (2-4, 1-0) by a score of 4-1.

The Vikings Eryk Fernandez netted a hat trick, all in the decisive second half, to secure his team their first conference victory.

Salem State's Matt Figueiredo (Wilmington, MA) scored the game's first goal beating a MCLA defender with quick foot work, he drove into scoring position and fired the goal to the far left corner post.  With 11:36 left in the first half, MCLA's Brian Theriault (Gloucester, MA) scored on a deflection from a shot by Drew Webster (Petersburgh, NY).  The half would end in a 1-1 tie.

Much of the second half was a back-and-forth contest of possession, but Fernandez scored an unassisted goal to put his team up for good.

The Trailblazers Dillon Wager stopped one shot while the Vikings Scott Hall stopped 13.

MCLA takes the field again Tuesday at 7:00PM at Rensselaer.
