Men's Soccer pulls out key MASCAC win over Mass. Maritime 1-0

North Adams, MA- MCLA's Joseph Mecca tallied the lone goal in the 83rd minute to lift the Trailblazers past the visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy 1-0 this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.  With the key MASCAC win, MCLA improves to 3-4 overall and evens its MASCAC mark at 1-1.  The Buccanneers fall to 4-2-1 overall, 0-2 in the conference.

After an uneventful first half that saw just seven shots between both clubs, the second half proved to be more intense but zeroes remained until the 83rd minute.  Trailblazer Pat Endy took his only touch and pushed the ball into the box towards Mecca just inside the eighteen.  Mecca gathered the pass, turned and rifled a shot that beat MMA keeper Brett Young to give MCLA the lead.  MMA couldn't muster a shot in the closing minutes against the stout MCLA defense.

MMA actually outshot MCLA 10-6 on the afternoon, while the hosts held a slim 4-3 edge in corners.

Trailblazer keeper Dillon Wager earned the shutout stopping all five shots he faced.  Young finished with one save for Maritime.

MCLA will return to action on Wednesday when they host Castleton State at 4pm.
