MCLA routs Green Mountain, Pereira named Offensive MVP after six goal weekend

Norwich, VT- The MCLA Men's Soccer team continued their torrid offensive start this afternoon, getting four goals from Dylan Pereira, while Robert Furman and Tedd Cecchetelli each added a pair in a 10-1 rout of Green Mountain in the Norwich Cadet Classic.  The Trailblazers improved to 2-0 on the season, however they lost out on the tournament tie breaker to host Norwich, even though the teams never played. 

Green Mountain falls to 0-2.

MCLA jumped out early as Cecchetelli put home an Edward Boateng feed in the 9th minute.  Pereira tallied his first goal of the day in the 23rd minute with Romeo Gray assisting.  Jesse Moore scored an unassisted tally in the 33rd minute, before Pereira scored his second of the day to give MCLA a 4-0 halftime lead.

Cecchetelli headed home a Sean Kenney cross just three minutes into the second half, before Pereira netted his final two goals of the weekend to make it 7-0.  Robert Furman connected twice in the second half, while Mitch Candelet netted the other Trailblazer goal.

MCLA outshot GMC 33-5 on the afternoon. 

Pereira was named the tournament's offensive MVP after tallying six goals on the weekend.  He was joined on the All Tournament team by teammates Matt Robinson, Robert Dalby, and Tyler Guzzi.

MCLA is back in action next weekend when they host the CIAO Classic.
