#5 Men's Soccer ready to travel to #4 Mass. Maritime Tuesday Night in MASCAC playoffs

2021 MASCAC Men's Soccer Bracket

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Soccer team had to wait until Saturday afternoon to learn their playoff fate.  After results were tabulated, the Trailblazers have earned the #5 seed in this week's MASCAC Championships.  MCLA will open up the single elimination tournament tomorrow night when they head to #4 seed Mass. Maritime for a 7pm kickoff.

Salem State earned the top seed after going through the regular season unbeaten at 7-0.  Also earning a bye into the semifinals is second seeded Framingham State.  The other quarterfinal matchup will feature #3 Bridgewater State hosting #6 Worcester State tomorrow.

MCLA hosted Mass. Maritime back on October 1st and the Buccaneers earned a hard fought 2-1 win over the Trailblazers.

In that contest, MCLA scored first as Cola Bean headed one home in just the fifth minute of play.  The game remained 1-0 into halftime and finally in the 77th minute, the Bucs scored the equalizer.  MMA's McNeill Somers scored off a rebound to tie things up at 1-1 and then in the 85th minute, the Bucs would put the game away.  Buccaneer Shane MacNeil would connect on the game winner off a cross from CJ Vincent to give the Bucs a 2-1 lead.  They would not relinquish the lead and earn the early season win over the Trailblazers.

The Bucs owned a 21-10 shot advantage over MCLA in that October contest.

MMA will enter the quarterinal round off a pair of narrow victories.  The modest two game winning streak came at the hands of Rivier and Worcester State.

MCLA will have to regroup as they have lost four straight entering the quarterfinals.  Most recently, the Trailblazers fell Bridgewater State 2-1 last Friday.  The Trailblazers have been very competitive however as each of those losses have been by a single goal.

The winner of this matchup will advance to the semifinals on Friday night and take on the top seeded Vikings.

The match will be webcast and live stats available.  Both can be found at http://athletics.mcla.edu
