Five Men's Soccer players named to MASCAC All Conference Team

2021 Men's Soccer All Conference Team

North Adams, MA-- The MASCAC announced their conference honors this afternoon and the MCLA Men's Soccer program was well represented.  In total, the Trailblazers placed five athletes on the All Conference team.  Leading the way for the Trailblazers was First Team defensive selection David Jamina (Lowell, MA) .  Named second team selections were senior midfielders Junior Florent (Pleasant Valley, NY) and Colin Rousseau (Cheshire, MA), first year forward Cola Bean (Jamaica Plain, MA), and junior goalkeeper Sam Edge (Williamstown, MA).

Salem State's Kendy Prince took home the Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year honors.  Prince's teammate Patrick Filetti was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year while their coach, Matt Correia, was the Champions Choice Coach of the Year.

MCLA's Jamina is a two time all conference player for the Trailblazers.  He appeared in 13 games this season and tallied a goal and an assist.  Jamina's main role however was to contain the opposition's best offensive weapon, which he did quite well.  Jamina also was selected All MASCAC following the 2019 season.

For Florent, Rousseau, Bean, and Edge they are all first time recipients of the honors.

Florent had an outstanding season for MCLA appearing in 15 games and scoring a pair of goals while assisting on three others.  He quickly became the focal point of opposing defenses and was consistently making plays for the Trailblazers.

Rousseau transitioned from a defender to midfielder and had success in doing so.  He scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others to aid the Trailblazer offense.  His biggest goal might have been in the MASCAC quarterfinals as he netted the game winner in the win over Mass. Maritime.

Bean burst onto the scene for MCLA as he led the team in scoring.  Bean posted 6 goals and added an assist for the Trailblazers.  Four of his goals came against conference competition and he also found the back of the net in the MASCAC quarterfinal win over Mass. Maritime.  Bean will be the focal point of the MCLA offense moving forward.

Edge rounds out the MCLA representation on the All Conference roster.  The junior goalie was second in the league with 99 saves on the season.  He posted a 1.57 GAA in conference play and anchored the MCLA defense all season long.

Joining Jamina, Prince, and Filetti on the 2021 MASCAC First Team is Liam Lenihan and Kevin Roberts of Bridgewater State, Sherak Ayamga and Kunphel Sinha of Framingham State, and Lucas Amaral, Daman Deocleciano, Matt Hauntsman and Aaron O'Toole of Salem State.

Landing on the 2021 MASCAC Second Team with the four Trailblazers are Carsten Boloz, Robson Montrond and Justin Silva of Bridgewater State, Cameron Lau, Bryce Borletto-McCray and Jared Nardizzi of Framingham State, and Matt Alzamora of Worcester State.
