Men's Tennis claims first victory with a 6-3 conference win over Johnson State

Pittsfield, MA- Rob Wabshinak earned a pair of points out of the top singles and doubles slot in leading MCLA past Johnson State 6-3 this afternoon in NAC Men's Tennis action held at Berkshire West in Pittsfield.  With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 1-2 on the season while Johnson falls to 1-5 overall.

The win also marked the first for Trailblazer head coach Trevor Grimshaw who inherited the program in March.

Wabshinak set the tone in winning the top singles match in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 over Cole Hennessy.  Wabshinak would then pair with Taylor Krowitz in the top doubles slot to earn a hard fought point 8-5 over the duo of Hennessy and Cory Chase.

Jeffrey Mason and Christian Sanchez also earned a pair of points.  Both won in the the third and fourth singles matches in straight sets.  They would then join forces to defeat Alex Pakatar and Zach Baughn 8-3 in number two doubles.

MCLA swept the doubles matches as Ray Yelle and Richard LaRocque won 8-3 over Alex Harcourt and Kyle Keppler.

Cory Chase, Matthew Miller, and Harris Shapiro earned singles victories for Badgers.

MCLA will continue NAC action next Saturday when they host Thomas College at 1pm.
