Doubles play lifts MCLA tennis past Johnson State

Johnson, VT- The MCLA Tennis team swept through doubles this afternoon and cruised to a 7-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Johnson State.  The Trailblazers improve to 4-4 on the season which includes a 3-1 mark in conference play.

The Trailblazers wrap up NAC play tomorrow with a key matchup against Colby Sawyer.  A win against the Chargers would give MCLA a share of the NAC regular season title.

Aaron Goldsmith teamed with Jared Freeman in the top doubles matchup to win the first point 8-1.  Matt Bluteau and Charles Najimy defeated Joseph Holloway and John Folsom 8-4 in the second doubles matchup.  Mohamend Mahrous and Temeskghen Reda fought hard for a 9-7 thid doubles win over Quinn Lambert and Colin Compagna.

In singles play, Goldsmith didn't drop a game to Austin Walters for his second point of the afternoon.  JSC would take the second and third singles matchups, but MCLA would earn the final three points in singles.

Bluteau and Mahrous each won convincingly while Nick Castle defeated Evan Daigneault in the sixth slot.

MCLA is officially into the NAC postseason tournament which begins on Saturday.  Seedings will be finalized after tomorrow's matchup with the Chargers.
