LEOMINSTER, MA - The MCLA Cross Country programs are off and running as they both competed in the Fitchburg State Invitational this afternoon.  The Trailblazer men finished in 4th place, while the women ended the meet in 7th.

Fitchburg's men's squad took top honors with a perfect 15 points, with Eric Ouellette placing first overall with a time of 27:35. For the women, Nicole Gaffney paced the Falcons with a finish time of 21:43 for eighth overall, and led the team to a second place finish.

Trailblazer freshman Christopher Gamble had a solid debut placing 8th in the men's race covering the 5k in a time of 29:41.  The first year averaged a 5:33 mile in his collegiate debut. Avery Woodbury was the next Trailblazer across the line finishing in 23rd place.

Worcester State took the women's team top honors with 37 points and placing four runners in the top ten. Lasell's Selena Colon was the top individual performer with a winning time of 20:09.​

For the Trailblazer women, Paige Herzog was first across the line followed by Annie Gagnon.

Both squads are back in action next week when they run at Castleton.
