MCLA Swept by Skidmore Thoroughbreds
The MCLA Trailblazers (9-19) had a tough time against the
Skidmore Thoroughbreds (18-9) in non-conference doubleheader
scoring only one run in both games.
Game 1 found
the Trailblazers scoring early on, earning a run in the first off
of a Kayla Koumjian (Watervilet, NY) double that
scored Amber Coburn (Colrain, MA). This would be
the team’s only run as freshman Thoroughbred Sam
Crose (Assonet, MA) pitched a complete game gem.
Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, NJ) homered to
break the 1-1 tie in the third inning which ended up being the
winning runs as the Thoroughbreds took the first game 6-1.
Game 2
continued the struggles from the first game for the Trailblazers as
they scored no runs and only two hits from Rachel
Desautels (Readsboro, VT) and Kaitlyn
Dano (Schoharie, NY). Crose pitched another gem going the
full six innings while the Thoroughbreds tacked on eight runs
throughout the game including another homerun from Dinsdale leading
to an 8-0 loss and a day/night sweep of the Trailblazers.
The Trailblazers (9-19, 3-7) play their next two games at home
against the Salem State Vikings (17-13, 3-7) at 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
The final conference double-header has playoff implications for
both team Trailblazers.
