Quackenbush and DiNicola placed on All MASCAC Softball team

2014 All MASCAC Softball Team

North Adams, MA- The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference announced the All Conference Softball team this afternoon.  MCLA's Rachel Quackenbush was named to the first team, while teammate Michaela DiNicola was tabbed as a second team selection.  Both are repeat selections from a year ago.

Quackenbush has continued to re-write the record books for MCLA in her sophomore season.  The right hander has already set the all time strikeout record and for the second straight season has broken the single season record for strikeouts.  The Hoosick Falls, NY native went 9-8 on the mound while compiling a pair of saves.  She has fanned 174 batters this season to date and opponents are hitting just .218 against her.

Honors are nothing new for Quackenbush as she was the MASCAC rookie of the year last season.

Dinicola led the Trailblazers with a .338 batting average in 2014.  She scored 10 runs out of the leadoff spot and has been steady in the outfield.  The runs scored ties her for the team lead.  Dinicola was also a second team selection a year ago.

Both Quackenbush and Dinicola will look to lead MCLA back to the MASCAC championship game.  The Trailblazers are the second seed and will await the winner of Worcester State and Fitchburg State.
