Quackenbush earns MASCAC pitcher of the week for second time

MASCAC Weekly Release

North Adams, MA- MCLA senior right hander Rachel Quackenbush was selected as the MASCAC pitcher of the week following her dominant performances against SVC and RPI.  The honor is the second of the season for Quackenbush.

The fireballing righty went 1-1 in her two starts logging 12 innings.  She struck out 12 batters, allowed just six hits, and didn't give up an earned run.

In her first start since March 18th, Quackenbush faced RPI last Wednesday.  She allowed six hits and was the tough luck loser falling 1--0 on an unearned run in the bottom of the 7th inning.  She struck out four in that contest.

Her highlight performance though came in the home opener against Southern Vermont on Thursday.  Quackenbush walked the leadoff hitter in the game and then proceeded to mow down the Mountaineers as she retired the final 15 batters to earn a five inning no hitter.  She struck out 8 SVC batters in the 10-0 Trailblazer victory.

On the season, she ranks in the top 50 nationally in three different statistical categories.

Quackenbush and the Trailblazers are scheduled to play at Amherst College on Wednesday, weather permitting and will open MASCAC play Saturday with a doubleheader against Framingham State.
