Senior Day- Nevada Nelsen (Softball)

Today's profile is on MCLA Softball player Nevada Nelsen.

Nelsen was preparing to captain the softball program after a solid first three seasons as a Trailblazer. She earned the MASCAC sportsmanship award and was a member of the conference's All Academic Team, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She was also involved in the college's STEM progam and served on the Townhouse Advisory Board.

On the field, Nelsen batted .267 over the course of her career. Last season, she hit a career best .282 collecting 29 hits on the season. She drove in 11 runs as a junior. Nelsen appeared in 91 games over her first three seasons in North Adams.

Nelsen is a Computer Science/Information Technology major at MCLA with minors in Physics and Anthropology.

What is your favorite thing about MCLA?: It's small size, makes it easier to make connections

What do you miss the most about competing this Spring?: My senior season. I didn't know that last year would be my last time ever playing softball.

What advice would you give other students in your program?: Don't take any moment here for granted, once it's gone, you'll miss it for sure.

What are your plans after graduation?: Hopefully secure a job and save up money to start my own life.

Favorite memory being involved in MCLA Athletics: All of the amazing people I've met.

Favorite professor and class at MCLA, elaborate why: Dr. Kebra Ward, General Physics. She's helped me so much throughout my career at MCLA and pushed me to pick up a physics minor. I wouldn't have taken on this challenge without her guidance.
