MCLA gets back on winning track against Green Mountain 65-52

Poultney, VT- The MCLA women's basketball team snapped a two game skid by defeating Green Mountain College 65-52 in Poultney, VT.  The win moves the Trailblazers to 10-3 heading into an important MASCAC matchup with rival Westfield State College on Tuesday.  Green Mountain drops to 5-6 on the season.

The Trailblazers were led by sophomore Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) with 14 points while fellow sophomore Alie Dobrovolc (Little Falls, NY) added 12 points and 5 steals.  Senior Laura Silverman had a productive night as she tallied a team high 9 rebounds to go along with 8 points.

MCLA was sluggish at the start as the hosts jumped out to a quick six point lead in the opening minutes.   The Trailblazers responded, slowly chipping away at the deficit and eventually take their first lead of the night at the 8:41 mark (14-13) on a layup by senior Ali Leveille (Southampton, MA). 

MCLA would take complete control with a 13-2 run with under 6:00 minutes remaining in the half to take a 29-17 edge.  MCLA would take a 35-24 edge into halftime.

The Trailblazers would open the second half on a 12-2 run taking an insurmountable 47-26 edge with 13 minutes to play.  The run was fueled by Wehner and Dobrovolc as each tallied four points in the run.

The Trailblazers forced 24 turnovers and held the Eagles to 32% shooting on the night.
