MCLA falls to Worcester State 60-46 in MASCAC opener

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Womens Basketball team fell to MASCAC rival Worcester State this afternoon by a score of 60-46.  The loss snapped a five game winning streak and drops MCLA to 9-2 overall, 0-1 in the league.  Worcester State improves to 7-5 on the season.

MCLA took a four point advantage into halftime after holding the visitors to 26% shooting from the floor.  Freshman Lucy Tremblay had eight points in leading the Trailblazers to their halftime edge. 

The second half was a complete turnaround as Worcester senior Reilly O'Keefe turned in a great second half.  The Lancers pulled even with MCLA at the 12:51 mark on her three pointer.  The teams would trade leads for the next until a Kaleigh Charette layup with 8:13 remaining gave the Lancers the lead for keeps.

Worcester pulled away down the stretch to earn their first league win of the season.  O'Keefe would finish with a game high of 23 points and 9 rebounds.  Charette would join her in double figures with 12 points.  Becca Giguere turned in 7 steals in the win.

Tremblay led the Trailblazers finishing her night with 17 points.  Jen Wehner would add 10 points and 14 rebounds in the defeat.  MCLA was plagued by 28 turnovers in the game as opposed to Worcester's 16. 

MCLA returns to action on Tuesday night when they travel to Salem State College.
