MCLA rolls past Johnson State 85-39

JOHNSON, Vt. – MCLA placed four players in double figures in rolling past Johnson State 85-39 for their second straight win.  The Badgers are now 1-6 overall while MCLA stands at 4-2 overall, 0-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC).

The Trailblazers put four players in double-figures led by Alie Dobrovolc (Little Falls, N.Y./Little Falls) who scored a game-high 21 points.  Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) scored 17 and grabbed eight boards, Lucy Tremblay (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) scored a dozen, and Danielle Beauchamp (Cohoes, N.Y./Cohoes) had a 10-point, five-rebound night.

JSC was paced by senior guard Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) who scored 14 points and had five assists, five rebounds, and two steals.  Freshman Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) added nine points and six rebounds while Madeline Pritchard (North Clarendon, Vt./Mill River) chipped in with eight points.

The game was back and forth for the first four minutes with MCLA holding a 12-11 lead but the Trailblazers took off on a 19-5 run over the next six minutes to grow lead to 31-16 and not look back.

MCLA shot 58% from the floor on the night while holding the host Badgers to just 22%.  The Blazers were able to accumulate a 48-23 rebound advantage for the evening as well.

MCLA will host Union (N.Y.) on Wednesday at 5:30 pm in a non-conference game.
