MCLA drops road tilt at Worcester 69-57

Worcester, MA- The MCLA Women's Basketball team dropped a 69-57 decision at Worcester State this afternoon, evening their conference mark at 4-4.  The Trailblazers are now 11-10 overall.  The Lancers improve to 4-5 in the league, 10-12 overall.

MCLA can't seem to find its stride on the road as they are 0-3 in road MASCAC contests while 4-1 at home.  The main reason this afternoon was the Lancer defense who held the high scoring MCLA trio of Alie Dobrovolc, Jen Wehner, and Lucy Tremblay to just 30 points.  The trio, who rank among the top five scorers in the league, average over 47.5 ppg.

Kaleigh Charette paced the Lancers with a game high 26 points.

Worcester held a 25-18 lead at halftime, but took full control right out of the locker room.  The Lancers used a 13-5 run over the opening four minutes of the half to take a 38-23 lead.  MCLA would battle back and pull within seven on three different occasions, but each time Worcester would extend back into double digits.

After MCLA trimmed the lead to 48-41 on a Katelyn Chenevert drive, Worcester immediately answered with a Charette three point play pushing out to a 51-41 lead with just 6:49 left.  MCLA would not get any closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Charette earned her 26 points on 9-16 shooting and an 8-12 performance from the line.  Megan O'Keefe had a double double collecting 12 points and a game high 16 rebounds.

For the Trailblazers, Chenevert had a season high 16 points on 8-10 shooting.  Dobrovolc finished with 14 points and 7 assists while Tremblay added 10 points.  Wehner was held to just 6 points and 6 rebounds.

MCLA will look to earn a road win on Tuesday when they travel to Westfield State at 5:30pm.
