Tremblay nets 39 points on milestone night, Trailblazers defeat USJ 86-75

North Adams, MA- Trailblazer senior Lucy Tremblay scored a career best 39 points, including the 1,000th of her career, in leading MCLA past the University of St. Joseph 86-75.  With the win, the Trailblazers are now 4-3, while USJ falls to 5-2 overall.

Tremblay entered the night needing 15 points to join the milestone club.  She wasted little time as she scored the first 8 points of the night for MCLA quickly becoming the fifth member of the exclusive club.  Tremblay would tally the milestone marker with 4:30 remaining in the half on a drive to the hoop.  Her bucket gave MCLA a 32-26 lead at the time.

MCLA would use the momentum and outscore USJ 14-8 over the final four minutes to take a 46-34 lead at halftime.  Any thoughts of a USJ comeback were trumped as MCLA came out of the locker room and scored the first eight points to build a 54-34 advantage.  The lead would grow to as many as 24 following a Danielle Beauchamp bucket at the twelve minute mark.

St. Joseph would make a bit of a run closing the gap to 11 on two occasions, but MCLA had an answer at every turn.

The answer was Tremblay.  The senior guard shot 14-22 from the floor, including 4-9 from three point range.  She scored 22 points in the opening period and 17 after halftime.  She also added six rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals on the night.

Joining Tremblay in double figures was Kait Chenevert with 13 points.  Johanna Miner and Danielle Beauchamp each added 11 apiece.

For USJ, Heather Framski was outstanding finishing with a team high 26 points on 10-18 shooting.  She added 9 rebounds on the night.  Devon Diliberto chipped in with 16, while Brianna Ferraro had 15.

MCLA outrebounded USJ 45-41 on the night, including a commanding 27-18 in the second half.  Each team committed 22 turnovers on the night.

Tremblay and the Trailblazers will play again tomorrow when they battle SUNY Canton at 4pm.
