Trailblazer women pull away from SUNY Canton 61-41

North Adams, MA- Playing their second game in two days, the MCLA Trailblazers got off to a sluggish start, but rebounding with a strong second half to pull away from the visiting SUNY Canton Kangaroos, defeating them 61-41.  With the win, the Trailblazers are now 5-3 while Canton drops to 4-4.

Lucy Tremblay, coming off a career night on Friday, led MCLA with 14 points, 12 of which came in the second half.  Kaitlyn Chenevert added 12 and Johanna Miner finished with 10 points.

For Canton, they were led by Alicia Uhlein had 11 points.  Kaitlin Myers finished with a game high 11 rebounds.

MCLA led 20-17 at halftime.  The opening half was marred by 24 turnovers and the teams combining to shoot just 23% from the floor.  The second half was a different story though.

MCLA opened up their first double digit lead at 38-28 on a free throw by Miner with 12:01 to play.  After Canton closed to within eight points at 46-38, MCLA used a 15-0 run to put the game out of reach.  Tremblay had 8 points in the decisive spurt.

MCLA rebounded from their poor shooting first half performance by knocking down 51% of their shots in the second half.  Their defense pressured Canton into 26 turnovers on the night.

The Trailblazers will close out the semester on Tuesday night when they travel to Smith College.
