MCLA slide continues at Bridgewater, fall to Bears 90-61

Bridgewater, MA- The host Bridgewater State University Bears defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 90-61 this evening in MASCAC Women's basketball action.  The Bears placed four players in double figures, led by Megan Boutilette's game high 21 points, as they moved to 5-1 in the conference and 14-3 overall.  MCLA drops their seventh straight contest in falling to 8-11 overall, 0-6 in conference play.

The visitors hung with the high powered Bears early on.  With the score standing at ten apiece, Bridgewater would begin to take command on the heels of a 10-2 run to grab a 20-12 edge with 13:58 remaining til halftime.  MCLA would trim the margin to just four points before the Bears would extend back out.

With BSU holding a 36-28 lead following an MCLA triple from Lucy Tremblay, the Bears would end the half on a 14-1 spurt to take complete control.  They would lead 50-29 at halftime.  Bridgewater quickly pushed the lead out to 25 early in the second period and were never challenged over the final twenty minutes.

MCLA would get no closer than 19 the rest of the way.

The Bears were paced by Boutilette's 21 points on 9-11 shooting.  She added 6 boards and 4 assists as well.  Elisha Homich filled the stat sheet with 15 points and a season high 13 assistsd.  Homich would also collect 5 steals.

Joining them in double figures were Micheala Cosby with 14 and Colleen Hanscom's 11.  The Bears shot 49% on the night.  The stat of the night was that the Bears collected 29 assists on 36 made baskets.

Tremblay led MCLA with 19 points including three triples.  She would add 7 rebounds and 4 steals.  First year Mariah Brown was the only other Trailblazer in double figures finishing with 14 points. 

MCLA shot just 31% and committed 21 turnovers in the loss.

The Trailblazers are off until next Tuesday when they travel to Salem State to face the Vikings.
