MCLA falls to Bridgewater on Senior Day 91-54

North Adams, MA- The visiting Bridgewater State University Bears used an efficient offense en route to a convincing 91-54 win over MCLA in the regular season finale for both schools.  The Bears had already wrapped up the regular season MASCAC championship and will enter next week's postseason tournament as the top seed.  The Bears finish the regular season with a mark of 21-3 overall and 11-1 in conference play.  MCLA closes its season at 8-17 overall, including an 0-12 mark in MASCAC play.

The Bears finished with an astounding 29 assists on 35 made field goals on the afternoon.  They also forced MCLA into 27 turnovers.

The Bears led from the onset scoring the games first ten points.  MCLA would cut the lead to six, but the Bears ultimately would extend that  back to double figures for the remainder of the opening half.  They led by as many as 19 points (30-11) following an Alana Watkins layup with 7:57 til halftime.  The Trailblazers would pull within 13 on two occasions before Bridgewater settled on a 43-27 halftime lead.

The second half was more of the same for Bridgewater.  BSU scored the first nine points out of the locker room and never looked back.  They eventually pushed out to their largest lead at 80-40 after Colleen Hanscom drained one of the Bears seven three pointers. 

The Bears were led by Megan Boutilette who filled the stat sheet with 16 points, 16 rebounds, 7 steals, and 4 assists.  Michaela Cosby also finished with 16 points.  Hanscom chipped in with 15 points, including three triples.  Jenna Williamson finished with 14 points.

For MCLA, they were led by senior Lucy Tremblay who had a game high 21 points.  She also added 8 rebounds.  Danielle Beauchamp came off the bench to score 12 points for the Trailblazers.

Prior to the start of the game, MCLA paid tribute to seniors Tremblay and Johanna Miner, who played their final regular season game this afternoon.

Bridgewater will be next be hosting a semifinal round MASCAC game on Thursday night.
