MCLA women fall to cross town foe Williams 81-43

North Adams, MA- The visiting Williams College women's basketball placed five players in double figures as the Ephs cruised past the MCLA Trailblazers 81-43 this afternoon at the James T. Amsler Campus Center.  The Ephs remain unbeaten at 6-0, while the Trailblazers fall to 2-4.

The Ephs were led by Kellie MacDonald who finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Katie Litman chipped in with 12 points and 7 boards, while Ellen Cook, Jane Thompson, and Devon Caveney each had 10.

MCLA was paced by Courtney McLaughlin's season high 18 points.  She was the only Trailblazer to reach double figures.

Williams made their first six shots and used the opening spurt to quickly jump out to a 17-4 lead.  MCLA never cut the margin to single digits in the opening half as the Ephs led by as many as 22 points at 35-13 with 5:39 left to play.  Although MCLA held Williams scoreless over the final five and a half minutes, they could only trim the deficit to 35-18 at halftime.

Williams cooled off missing their last 12 field goals, but still shot a respectable 43% from the field.  MCLA was ice cold shooting just 5-28 (18%) in the opening twenty minutes.

MCLA never made a game of it in the closing half as they would not get closer than the halftime margin.

The Ephs shot 47% compared to just 25% for the Trailblazers.  Williams shared the basketball well collecting 25 assists on their 34 made field goals.

MCLA is back in action on Tuesday night when they host Utica College.
