MCLA zips past Southern Vermont in Women's hoops

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers recieved a game high 24 points from Brayleigh Hanlon and used a 25-4 run to blitz past visiting Southern Vermont College 83-52 in women's college basketball action.  With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 4-7 overall while the Mountaineers drop to 2-8 on the season.

After SVC and MCLA played it tight in the opening 15 minutes, the hosts began to make their powerful run.  After Mountaineer Sarah McDonald completed a three point play to bring SVC within four points at 31-27, MCLA closed the half on a 10-0 run to grab a comfortable 41-27 lead at halftime. 

The Trailblazers would continue to ride that momemtum into the second half, opening on a 15-4 run to put the game out of reach at 56-31.  The lead would grow to as many as 34 in the second half and MCLA was never challenged.

Hanlon recorded her 24 points on 10-20 shooting.  She was joined in double figures by Kaitlyn Chenevert, who added 16 points.  Chenevert also collected 7 steals, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Courtney Durivage chipped in with 10 points as well.  Tashari Rainwater came off the bench to grab 12 rebounds.

SVC was paced by Amber Flagg's 20 points.  McDonald finished with 14 points.

MCLA forced 34 SVC turnovers and owned a commanding 70-43 rebounding edge.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Thursday when they open MASCAC play against Bridgewater State.
