Hotaling becomes latest Trailblazer named MASCAC rookie of the week

MASCAC Weekly Release

North Adams, MA- MCLA women's basketball player Kayla Hotaling waited a long time to finally make a splash for the Trailblazers.  Battling injuries all season long, Hotaling has burst on to the scene, collecting a pair of double doubles in her first two outings.  Her latest performance, a 12 point and 10 rebounds showing against Westfield, has earned her the MASCAC Rookie of the Week award.

Hotaling becomes the fifth Trailblazer honored this season by the conference.  She joins previous recipients Brayleigh Hanlon, Ashley Clawson, Courtney McLaughlin, and Courtney Durivage

Hotaling, who hails from Ravena, NY, was battling foul trouble in the opening half against the Owls as she had just two points at halftime.  The center asserted herself over the final twenty minutes though, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds in defeat.  She also added four blocked shots on the day.

Hotaling and her teammates are still in search of their first MASCAC win.  They will be traveling to Salem State on Tuesday night to battle the Vikings.  Tip off is at 5:30pm.
