MCLA cruises past Fitchburg State in women's basketball
North Adams, MA- The MCLA women's basketball team rolled past visiting Fitchburg State 75-21 tonight in MASCAC action from the Amsler Campus Center Gym. With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 10-6 overall and are now 2-3 in the MASCAC. The Falcons remain winless at 0-16.
Kayla Hotaling led MCLA with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Karina Mattera ended with 12 points as twelve Trailblazers broke into the scoring column. The Trailblazer defense held the visitors to just 16% shooting and caused 40 turnovers.
MCLA wasted little time in putting this one away as they forced the Falcons into 24 first half turnovers en route to a commanding 45-14 halftime lead. Hotaling and Mattera keyed the offense combining for 25 points over the opening twenty minutes of play. MCLA also shot a solid 52% from the floor in the half.
Fitchburg was led by Erika Schneider's 6 points. Michaela McTomney added 8 rebounds.
The Trailblazers are off until Monday when they'll travel to Springfield for a non conference tilt. The Falcons will host Salem State on Saturday afternoon.
