Courtney Durivage- MASCAC Student Athlete Spotlight

It is all about numbers for MCLA's Courtney Durivage. Whether they are the numbers she is calculating in her accounting classes or the digits on the court, numbers are a very important piece of her time as a Division III student-athlete.

The choice of attending MCLA was a simple one for the junior from Wynantskill, NY who wanted to be able to play the sport she loves while also being able to focus on her future career. Competing in Division III has given her great experience in balancing basketball along with keeping up with academic work which will assist me with taking on any challenges the future may bring.

Currently Durivage is studying business adminstration with a concentration in accounting. Once she graduates, she wants to continue in the accounting field in some capacity. She has received several accolades for her academic success at MCLA, including the Dean's List, All-Academic and the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honors Society. Most recently, she was named to the 2015 MASCAC Winter and Spring All-Academic Teams.

As a member of the Trailblazers women's basketball, the sport has been a part of her life for many years. Durivage got her start at the age of seven and hasn't stopped playing since. It was extra meaningful for her at the AAU level as her dad and biggest supporter was able to be her coach and help her continue to grow stronger as a player.

In her third year with the Trailblazers, Durivage has totaled 345 points while shooting 64 percent from the free throw line, 333 rebounds, 69 steals and 59 assists. In the win over Daniel Webster earlier this season, she nearly averaged a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. 

Whether she is calculating numbers in the classroom or seeing how they add up on the basketball court, her time as a student and athlete at MCLA is giving her the tools to succeed after graduation.
