2016 Women's Basketball All MASCAC Team

North Adams, MA- MCLA junior forward Kayla Hotaling has been named to the All MASCAC second team following a vote of the league's coaching staff.  The honor marks the first for Hotaling in her three seasons at MCLA.

Westfield State's Jill Valley was tabbed as the MASCAC player of the year, while Framingham State's Walter Paschal was named coach of the year by his peers.  Britt Herring of Worcester State is the conference's rookie of the year.

Hotaling has put together a strong season for MCLA.  The junior from Ravena, NY has averaged 11.9 points per game and 10.2 rebounds in 2016.  She ranks second in the conference in rebounding and is fourth in blocked shots.  Hotaling collected ten double doubles this season for the Trailblazers.

The six footer scored a career high 26 points in a win over Southern Vermont back on January 4th, while she also broke the twenty point barrier on three other occasions.  Hotaling snagged a career high 19 rebounds in last night's MASCAC quarterfinal victory over Salem State and also had 18 against Westfield State, who the Trailblazers take on tomorrow night.

The All MASCAC first team consists of Valley and teammate Forbasaw Nkamebo, Bridgewater State's Jennie Lindland, and Framingham State's Raegan Mulherin and Alycia Rackliffe.

Joining Hotaling on the second team are Worcester State's Herring, Bridgewater State's Chanelle Melton, Framingham State's Monta Connolly, and Salem State's Kaitlyn Bryan.

Hotaling will look to lead the Trailblazers past the top seeded Owls on Thursday night at 7pm at Westfield State's Woodward Center.
