NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Ice Hockey team dropped the second game of their home-and-home series with New England College this weekend. NEC's Olivia Lindberg recorded a hat trick, scoring her first three goals of the season.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • For the second game in a row, MCLA dug an early hole and could not dig themselves out. The Pilgrims scored three first-period goals to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room following the first period. The goals were scored by Alexis Hornsby (at 2:36, unassisted), Olivia Lindberg (7:01, assisted by Jordan Pond), and Hornsby (11:49, Mikayla Vincent).
  • The Trailblazers broke through with a goal early in the second period. What would turn out to be the team's only goal was scored by Alexandrea Bednar with an assist from Rebekah Ade at the 3:33 mark. The goal was Bednar's fourth of the season. 
  • Lindberg responded for the Pilgrims about four minutes later when she scored her second goal of the game (7:22, Hornsby).
  • It was Lindberg again adding an insurance goal in the third period (7:28, Meadow Gilchrist).
  • MCLA's Kaia Borski finished the game with 37 saves but still saw her record drop to 0-3-0, while New England College's Lucy Armour stopped 27 of the 28 shots she faced, earned her first collegiate win and improved to 1-0-0.

UP NEXT:

On Friday, MCLA will be back in action when they travel to Salem State for a non-conference matchup with the Vikings at Rockett Arena as part of the Salem State Viking Cup Tournament. The puck will drop at 7 p.m.
