Women's Lax falls to Westfield State 14-2

North Adams, MA- The visiting Westfield State women's lacrosse team placed eleven players in the scoring column as the Owls ran past the MCLA Trailblazers 14-2 this evening at Shewcraft Field.  Westfield is now 9-5 overall and remains unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.  The Trailblazers drop to 1-8 overall and are 0-4 in the league.

MCLA scored first in this one as Julia Graham tallied just one minute into the game for an early 1-0 lead.  It was short lived however as the Owls scored the equalizer just 50 seconds later.  That goal started an 11-0 run that spanned into the fourth quarter.

Westfield led 6-1 at the end of the first quarter and then 8-1 at halftime.  Through three quarters of play, the Owls owned a commanding 11-1 lead.

MCLA scored their second goal when Summer Nichols tallied early in the fourth quarter to make it 11-2.  Westfield would score the final three goals to pull away for the win.

Emma Prattson, Nicole Rinkus, and Kiely Hafensteiner each ended with two goals apiece.  Owl keepers Kara Banagan and Sydney Smith combined for a pair of saves.  Banagan earned the win playing the first half.

MCLA's Lori Lester stopped three shots for the Trailblazers.

MCLA is back in action on Tuesday when they head to Fitchburg State.
