Women's Lacrosse celebrates Senior Day against Salem State

North Adams, MA-- Salem State's Mackenzie Schmink scored seven goals while teammate Suzanne Stefanik added a pair of goals and nine assists in leading the Vikings to a convincing 21-2 win over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening in MASCAC action from Shewcraft Field.  With the win, the Vikings improve to 7-8 overall and finish at 3-4 in the league.  MCLA ends their season at 1-11 and 0-7 in the conference.

Salem's Madelynn Plourde contributed six goals and an assist as well in the win.  Taylor Sujko ended with five goals and two assists.  

The Vikings jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one quarter of play.  Plourde scored twice in the quarter as the Vikings converted three free position shots.  Salem would increase the lead to 13-0 at halftime as Schmink tallied four goals in the quarter including the final three of the half.

In the third, the Viking lead grew to 17-0 before MCLA got on the board.  Summer Nichols would convert a pass from Julia Graham late in the third to break the ice.  

Salem held serve throughout the fourth quarter and cruised home.

The Vikings outshot MCLA 39-8 in the contest.  Kaia Hollingsworth collected three saves to earn the win.

MCLA's Lori Lester stopped eight shots in goal for the Trailblazers.

Prior to the contest, MCLA honored their seniors in Aleesha Quinliven and Sara Tomkiewicz.  Tomkiewicz capped off the game with a goal in the final minute on Senior Day.
