Women’s Lacrosse falls to Dean College

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—Seven different players found the back of the net tonight for Dean College as the Bulldogs cruised to a 22-7 nonconference victory over the MCLA Women's Lacrosse team at Shewcraft Field. With the win Dean improves to 4-4 while the Trailblazers fall to 1-1.

It only took eighteen seconds for Nina Medirios to score her first of three goals on the evening and the Bulldogs would sprint to an 8-0 lead before the Trailblazers could get their bearings. Julia Graham would put the hosts on the board and Summer Nichols would make it 8-2 but Marie Brown would score late in the quarter to make it 9-2 after one.

Dean would score the next four goals to start the second quarter to make it 13-2 but back-to-back goals by Nina Reyes and another by Graham cut the deficit to 13-5 at the half.

Another four-goal run to open the second half made it 17-5 and essentially put the game away for the visitors. Reyes and Graham would score again for the Trailblazers, but Dean kept the pressure on scoring the final five goals of the game on their way to the 22-7 win.

Marie Brown finished with a game-high 6 goals and Allie Bezio would add four goals and three assists for the Bulldogs.

Dean goalie Ally Stockwell made 7 saves in the win to improve to 4-4 on the season. MCLA goaltender Lori Lester made 24 saves but took the loss falling to 1-1.

Dean will next host Colby-Sawyer this Friday at 4pm in their GNAC season opener. MCLA will host nonconference opponent NVU-Lyndon on Thursday at 5pm.
