Mass Maritime sails past Women’s Lacrosse, 16-1

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— Mass Maritime scored six first quarter goals and cruised to a 16-1 win over the MCLA Women's Lacrosse team tonight at Shewcraft Field. With the win the Buccaneers improve to 4-8 (1-3 MASCAC) while the Trailblazers fall to 2-7 (0-5 MASCAC).

Maritime would lead 6-0 after one and 8-0 at the half thanks to four goals by Casey Llewellyn, a pair by Lindsey Durgin and one each by Allie Dickenson and Paige Albertson.

The Bucs would add five more goals in the third quarter before MCLA's Julia Graham finally put the Trailblazers on the board with 8:57 left in the game to make it 13-1. The visitors added three more before they were through capturing their first MASCAC win of the season, 16-1.

Llewellyn would finish with 5 goals, Dickenson with 4 and Durgin went for a hattrick to lead Maritime.

Buc keeper Sue Bird (W, 3-8) got the win making only 2 saves. Trailblazer goalie Lori Lester (L ,2-7) made 11 saves but took the loss in net for MCLA.

Both teams will resume MASCAC play on the road this Tuesday at 7pm as Maritime faces Bridgewater State and MCLA takes on Westfield State.
