Anderson leads Women's Soccer past Fitchburg 4-0

North Adams, MA- MCLA's Alexi Anderson collected a pair of goals and an assist in leading the Trailblazers to a 4-0 MASCAC victory over Fitchburg State at soggy Shewcraft Field.  MCLA earns their first conference win (1-2) as they improve to 3-6-1 overall.  The Falcons drop to 2-8-1 and are 0-2-1 in the conference.

Anderson broke open the scoring in the 28th minute when she took a through pass from Nicole Zacchio at midfield and went in unmarked.  She beat Falcon keeper Kelsey Ford to the right side and MCLA led 1-0.  She would score unassisted just seven minutes later after stealing the ball deep in Falcon territory putting the Trailblazers on top 2-0.

Jackie Dwyer knocked home a loose ball off the foot of Courtney Haier in the 41st minute to give MCLA a commanding 3-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was more balanced as each team had scoring chances, however MCLA would produce the lone tally when Zacchio would convert an Anderson cross in the 79th minute to round out the scoring.

The Trailblazers outshot Fitchburg 20-11 on the afternoon and held a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.

Katy Daly earned the win in net stopping four shots.  Ford collected five saves for the Falcons.

MCLA will host Western New England on Wednesday.
